David Laport (1986) graduated as a fashion designer in 2012 from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. With his experimental final-collection of wind-blown up – silhouettes he received a lot of media coverage. After a year of freelancing it is now time to take a next step; presenting a new experimental woman’s-wear collection in January 2014 at Amsterdam Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
This is his first collection to contain both Ready to Wear pieces, as well as some signature (demi) couture pieces. Laport drew his inspiration for his work from the invisible life: elements on earth that are essential for life, but they're too small for our eyes to see.
On the 18th of July, Dutch designer David Laport was announced as the winner of the European Woolmark prize 2017-2018 for his womenswear design, at an award event held in Milan.
