For the SS16 collection, David Laport developed his own lace with a modern look. Laport drew inspiration from two different worlds; for the materials David became fascinated by the different meshes of the fishnets and struck fishnets you see in Indonesia. For the forms he particularly looked at works by Janet Eckelman. The silhouettes are light, feminine, sometimes classic and implemented in modern, innovative and above all fresh materials and colors.
At a fishnets weaving mill in Italy Laport showed weaving and dyeing different networks, which are incorporated in layers within the collection. They played with the mesh of the nets resulting in an exciting stratification. The base of the mostly handmade creations is black and white, with addition of color in blue, jade green and nude shades combined with white patent leather.
'This Spring-Summer collection gives a modern and fresh interpretation of materials in which fishing nets and self-developed lace play a key role, " said David Laport.
The collection was presented in partnership with VOGUE in the Dutch residence in Paris.
